Wayne began his tenure with RBCC September 2003. He is a Florida native. Wayne received his education at the University of Florida graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Turfgrass Science. Before coming to RBCC Wayne was an assistant at the Tom Fazio designed Camp Creek Golf Club.

Fall Golf In Florida

If you live in Florida, the Fall season can be one of the most enjoyeable times of the year to play golf. This Fall has certainly been enjoyable and I hope everyone is experiencing Fall in Florida. The climate and temperatures have been optimal for managing Bermuda Grass in the South. If you are searching for a place to play golf or have simply been out of town for a while, get out and enjoy the beautiful property Rocky Bayou Country Club has to offer. You’ll be glad you did!

Vegetable Garden Produces Enjoyment

Greens Aerification a Success

Our first greens aerification of the year has been a success. We were able to remove beneficial amounts of unwanted organic material. Disruption to the putting surface was minimal and we should be fully recovered in a few days. During your next round of golf pause for a moment and listen to those greens breath!!!

Definitely Nice Weather

If you have not been on the course lately you are missing out. This is the weather we have all been waiting for. The ground hog said spring is coming soon.

A couple things to remember. Night temperatures 60 degrees or above will increases the potential for turf growth. This will be the beginning of spring “green up”.

Putting greens are still rolling great. With increased temperatures comes the increase of humidity and fog. Our goal will now be drying putting greens before first morning tee times. As temperatures fluctuate greens speed will sometimes fluctuate as well. Again, our goal is to minimize this occurence and provide the most consistent putting surface possible. I encourage everyone to enjoy this great weather and enjoy the product our staff strives to produce.

The last two weeks have not been the most enjoyable weather wise. But don’t be discouraged, the next ten days forecast looks promising. So grab your clubs and come join us on the course. Before long we will be in the middle of spring!!!

New Golf Course to Enjoy

Hello all. December is an exciting month because it brings us a different golf course to enjoy. Usually by December we have experienced a few frost and course conditions begin to change. Greens begin to roll a little faster, balls hit in the fairways roll a little farther, rough plays a little more forgiving, and the general appearance of the golf course changes. In fact, some members may change the clubs they carry in their bags to accommodate for these changes. It is for this reason I say December brings us a new course to enjoy. Be sure to invite a friend to enjoy the golf course as well.

October Rules

October is the perfect month to enjoy golf. The weather is great and course maintenance is at it’s prime. Once again, we are not concerned with seeding so golfers will never be asked to stay on cart paths nor will golfers be concerned about getting wet from irrigation sprinklers.

If ever someone was interested in taking up golf at RBCC now is the time. It is for these simple reasons I say “October Rules”.

“Long Time; No Post”

Hello everyone. It has been some time since my last post. At the beginning of this week I dedicated myself to updating a post for this site. Club Championship week was a perfect week to do so. Unfortunately, today is Friday, the last day of the week and I am just now updating a post.

In any event, our staff has been working hard to put forth the extra effort required to provide championship conditions. If you are participating in the Club Championship and read this post before tomorrows play, here is some inside information.

First, I expect greens to roll noticeably faster Saturday and Sunday. All week we have been rolling greens but single cutting. For Saturday and Sunday fresh ground reels will be used to double cut greens. We will also allow greens to dry a little making for a more firm and fast surface.

Also stay away from the rough. Mowing heights for maintainable rough was raised this week making a more challenging shot from those lies. In addition, we have not mowed any rough under, between, or to the sides of our tree lined fairways. With every passing day those areas become more challenging to play from.

Of course the hope is that every player enjoy themselves to maximum potential. The weather should be great and I hope the golf course meets everyones expectations.
